1The agreement
These terms govern your use of Madinah College Portal. By registering an account, starting a free trial or taking out a membership you agree to them. If you do not agree, please do not use the Portal.
“We”, “us” and “the Portal” mean Madinah College Portal. “You” means the individual holding the account. “Content” means the courses, lessons, videos, texts, notes templates, quizzes, exams and materials available on the Portal.
2Your account
- An account is personal to one individual. You may not share your login, and you may not let anyone else study on your membership. We monitor for shared use and may suspend an account that shows it.
- You are responsible for keeping your password confidential and for everything done under your account. Tell us straight away if you think someone else has access.
- The information you give us on registration must be accurate, and you must keep your email address current — it is how we send receipts, renewal notices and exam results.
- You must be 16 or over to hold an account. A parent or guardian may hold an account and supervise a younger student's study.
3Membership and billing
- Full membership costs £10 per month, or £90 per year. The annual plan is billed as a single payment for the year.
- Membership renews automatically at the end of each period, at the price shown when you subscribed, until you cancel. We take payment on the renewal date using the card on file.
- Payments are processed by Stripe. We never see or store your full card details.
- If a payment fails we will try again. Repeated failures over the retry window end the membership and close access to the Content until payment succeeds.
- We may change our prices. An existing membership keeps its price until the end of the current period, and we will tell you by email before a new price applies to a renewal.
4The free trial
New members get seven days of full access. The trial is one per person. We ask for payment details when you start it so that membership can continue seamlessly, and the first payment is taken at the end of the seven days unless you cancel before then. Cancel during the trial and you are charged nothing.
5Cancelling and refunds
- Cancel whenever you like from your Account page, under Subscriptions. Cancellation stops the next payment; your access runs to the end of the period you have already paid for.
- Because the Content is digital and available immediately, we do not refund part-used periods. If something has gone wrong — a double charge, a payment after you cancelled, a course you could not access — email us and we will put it right.
- Your notes stay with your account. If you cancel and later resubscribe with the same account, they are still there.
6Exams and certificates
- Alimiyyah exams are requested once you have finished a course. A fee of £50 applies per exam and is separate from your membership.
- Papers are marked manually and results are emailed to you. A certificate is issued for each course you complete and pass.
- Exams must be your own unaided work. Any form of impersonation, copying or collusion voids the paper, and we may withdraw a certificate already issued.
- Marks and marking decisions are final, though you may ask us to review a paper within 30 days of your result.
7What you may do with the Content
Your membership is a personal, non-transferable licence to watch and study the Content for as long as it lasts. Within that, you may:
- watch any lesson your membership covers, as often as you like;
- take notes, and download any study material a course explicitly provides for download;
- quote a short passage for study or discussion, with attribution.
You may not:
- record, download, rip or re-upload the lesson videos;
- republish, resell, translate or redistribute any Content, in whole or in part, on any other platform;
- use the Content to teach a paid course of your own;
- circumvent any access control, or use automated tools to scrape the Portal.
Copyright in the Content belongs to Madinah College or to the scholars and teachers who produced it. Nothing here transfers it to you.
8Notes you write and share
Notes you keep private stay private. If you choose to share a note on a lesson, you grant us a non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to display it to other members on that lesson, alongside the name on your account. You keep ownership of what you wrote, and you can delete a shared note at any time.
Shared notes must be relevant to the lesson and civil. We may remove a note that is abusive, misleading, advertising, or infringes someone else's rights.
9Availability and changes
We aim to keep the Portal available at all times, but we do not guarantee uninterrupted service. Maintenance, provider outages and faults happen. We may add, update, reorganise or withdraw courses — a course being withdrawn does not entitle you to a refund of your membership, and where a course is central to the Alimiyyah programme we will give notice before removing it.
Courses are primarily pre-recorded. Where a live session is offered, the date and format are as announced at the time.
10Suspension and termination
We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms — in particular one that shares a login, redistributes the Content or cheats in an exam — without a refund. Where the breach is minor and fixable we will warn you first.
You may close your account at any time by asking us to.
11Disclaimers and liability
The Content is educational. It is taught by qualified scholars and teachers, but it is not a substitute for a specific ruling on your own circumstances from someone who knows them.
Nothing in these terms limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be limited. Subject to that, our total liability to you in any 12-month period is limited to the amount you paid us in that period, and we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss.
If you are a consumer, your statutory rights are unaffected by anything here.
12Governing law and contact
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction. If you live elsewhere in the UK you may also bring proceedings in your own courts.
We may update these terms. The date at the top shows the current version, and we will email you before a material change takes effect.
